Frequency stability investigation of a 618 nm laser

In this project, the frequency characteristics of a 618 nm laser are investigated using Fabry-Perot reference cavities. The project presents relevant theory related to Fabry-Perot cavities and describes the design and construction of a home-made Fabry-Perot cavity. The surrounding optical setup and operation of both a home-made and bought cavity are explained, and the results of cavity characterisation and initial laser investigation are presented. The project concludes that the 618 nm laser likely exhibits multimode behaviour; however, no definite conclusion can be drawn due to insufficient knowledge of the reference cavity's stability over longer time scales.”
